Printing strings of the Czech brand Filament PM, which belongs to the company Plasty Mladeč, are among the quality materials and guarantee trouble-free printing. The laser measurement of the material thickness is used in the production process, thus ensuring a constant diameter of the string along its entire length. These strings are protected by a double wrap against UV rays and a drying bag is included in each pack to prevent any moisture from affecting the material. Printing strings are produced in a wide range of colours.

PLA metallic green printing string is a versatile material for FDM printing technology, also suitable for printing large objects. It is the most commonly used material for 3D printing without the need to heat the print substrate.

Suitability for use of PLA:

PLA filament is easy to print, biodegradable (hence environmentally friendly). However, it is a material that is not suitable for outdoor use, it degrades and becomes brittle when exposed to UV light. It is also not temperature resistant. Already at 30 - 50 °C the prints soften and deform. It is therefore not advisable to carry prints in cars. PLA is a flammable material. Therefore, we recommend that you do not leave the printer unattended for long periods of time when printing with this material.

PLA surface treatment - the material cannot be easily sanded, grinding (rubbing) generates heat which causes the fibres to "pull" out of the print. It is therefore advisable to cool the print when hand sanding, for example by sanding it under water. For the same reason, it is difficult to drill holes in the printout (again a problem with heating). It is advisable to spray the material first with filler (used in modelling) and then sand it, repaint again and over and over again until the model is perfectly smooth for us and then repaint it with paint. The resulting model can also be put into the "plasterer" along with shells, stones, filament remnants, pieces of prints...

Gluing PLA: instant glue with spray activator (sometimes instant glue alone is sufficient)

Recommended PLA printing settings: for printing, it is sufficient to use commonly used nozzles. The nozzle diameter is selected according to the fineness of the surface we want to achieve or according to the thickness of the layers during printing. There is a conversion formula for this optimal setting, no less a simple rule of +-0.2mm is sufficient - i.e. if we want a layer thickness of 1.25 the nozzle should not have a larger diameter than 0.3mm. For larger layers, use a nozzle with a larger diameter and for weaker layers, use a smaller nozzle.

Pad temperature - no heating required or just for better adhesion of the material to the substrate up to 50 °C.

Recommended settings : Print temperature: 210 °C, retraction 0,8mm, speed 60mm/s (outline 70%), layer 0,2mm - 0,05mm. When using the printer with PEI film, the backing must be degreased well. The resulting print is smooth, slightly glossy with no visible errors.

For storage we recommend to ensure a dry environment. When stored poorly in a humid environment, it absorbs moisture, which shows up as bubbles on the surface when printed.

Outer coil diameter 202 mm, inner bore 50 mm, width 90 mm. Weight of the coil including packaging 1,4 kg. The printing string is wound on a black spool, in a plastic vacuum pack, a cardboard box and another plastic pack.

Filament quantity of PLA filament on 1kg spool is about 330 meters. The value is approximate as the diameter of the string may vary according to the tolerance stated by the manufacturer. For Mladeč Plastics it is +- 0,05mm.
