Original Prusa MK4, assembled printer More

Manufacturer: Prusa Research a.s.Product code: 57360 Shipping and Payment

The MK4 offers high-speed printing, simple operation and the reliability you've come to expect from all Original Prusa 3D printers. It retains all the advantages of the popular MK3 printer: easy maintenance, high security, open-source principles... and adds so much more!

The MK4 consistently offers a perfectly smooth first layer thanks to the Load Cell sensor (no manual tuning required). The Next Generation Extruder (Nextruder) and 32-bit platform provide specific benefits such as remote printing, fast nozzle changes and customisable one-click start-up control.

There is also a printer kit that you can assemble yourself (takes about 8 hours) to learn more about how the printer works.

The original Prusa MK4 is based on our new 32-bit architecture and next generation extruder (Nextruder). It offers a perfect first layer every time without any fine-tuning and supports high-speed printing with Input Shaper and Pressure Advance technologies. We've further improved all the security features. There's quick nozzle changes, built-in support for remote printing and webcams, and lots of other goodies. The printer is also wonderfully quiet.

  • The successor to the reliable, award-winning Original Prusa MK3 printer.
  • Fast and quiet printing, with simple operation.
  • Fully automatic calibration of the first layer thanks to the Load Cell sensor.

Main features

High-speed printing with ease
Easy high-speed printing
With our proprietary implementation of Input Shaper and Pressure Advance technologies in the MK4 firmware, the printer can predict filament flow and eliminate resonance. This results in a reduction of up to 70% in printing time compared to the MK3. What's more, the printer is still very quiet even at these speeds - check out the video of Benchy printing in under 20 minutes. Support for high-speed printing is just around the corner with a firmware update - read more on our blog.

Perfect First Layer on a First Try

Perfect first layer right after the first power on
Thanks to the precision Load Cell sensor, MK4 handles a perfectly smooth and consistent first layer, completely automatically without any user intervention. At the beginning, the printer taps the nozzle on the printing surface in a grid pattern to measure the distance and set the necessary fine-tuning. The result is a perfect first layer on any surface of the printing plate, without the need for manual intervention.

The Nextruder with Breakout Board

Nextruder with hub plate
The extruder is the heart of every 3D printer. And this particular one is an extraordinary piece. On most current printers, replacing extruder components is quite a complicated process. In Nextruder, however, all components such as fans, heaters, thermistors, etc., are plugged directly into the new hub board. It takes less than a minute to change them.

32-bit xBuddy Mainboard

32-bit xBuddy motherboard
Our new 32-bit xBuddy motherboard with STM32 processor has a lot of great features. It offers unique hardware safety fuses, communicates with four thermistors and has all important interfaces (Ethernet, Wi-Fi, supports USB-A flash drives). Exceptional print quality
MK4 features redesigned, more robust plastic parts and new precision 0.9° stepper motors (0.9°/step; low inductance) on the X and Y axes to help prevent minor surface defects ("Vertical Fine Artifacts") on prints. The Z-axis has thicker, 10mm bars. With all these changes, prints look better than ever and even printing from "problematic" filaments like Flex is now much easier.

Color LCD screen and simple UI

Colour LCD screen and clear user interface
The MK4 display supports G-code previews, QR codes and other features that make working with the printer so much easier. We've also redesigned most of the existing menus and added a customizable panel to the display. Directly below the screen you will find coloured lights that indicate the current status of the printer. Next to the screen is a USB-A port for standard USB flash drives.

Quick-Swap Nozzles
Quick nozzle change
The nozzle is attached with two quick-release screws on the side of the Nextruder. They make changing nozzles easier than ever. The MK4 uses special nozzles with all-metal filament guides (no more PTFE tubes), which increases the overall reliability of the printer. A simple Nextruder to V6 adapter is also available.

3d model in prusaslicer
Sic the Prusaslicer!
Our in-house developed multi-platform slicer features our own fully tested print profiles for all our 3D printers and a wide variety of different filaments. Thanks to built-in tools such as advanced support creation, cutting, or automatic object placement, you can have your model ready for print in no time!

seven diferent colour filaments next to each other
Support for a wide range of materials
MK4 is fully compatible with a wide range of materials. Whether you're just printing something for fun from PLA or flexible materials, for example, or you need durable technical prints from PETG, ASA, polycarbonate or polypropylene... MK4 can handle everything without any problems.

Prusa Connect and Connectivity Options
Prusa Connect and connection options
The MK4, along with our other printers, offers full Prusa Connect support, allowing you to control your printer via the internet. By simply dragging the G-codes into the browser window, you can upload them to cloud storage (each user has 2 GB free), from there to a USB drive plugged into the printer and start printing remotely. All data transmission is encrypted.

Accessories

Ready for multi-colour printing with MMU3
The MK4 can be upgraded with this optional accessory to print up to five colours (materials) simultaneously with one extruder. The MMU3 has five filament holes. Load the five colours of your choice, scan the model with the MMU3 profile in PrusaSlicer and switch on the printer. The system automatically selects the filament using the selector, feeds it into the Nextruder and the MK4 starts printing. All subsequent filament changes are also automatic.

MMU3 is the latest version of the Multi Material add-on from Prusa Research. The firmware has been completely rewritten, we have redesigned the plastic parts, added more robust metal parts, improved the electronics and modified the filament buffer. All these changes have taken the reliability and user experience of the MMU to a whole new level.
