Correct placement of the weather station

The Loxone weather station records various meteorological data. Before selecting the optimal location for the weather station, it is first necessary to determine which measurements are particularly important for the protection of the building.

Icon Sturmschutz

Storms are the most common cause of damage to blinds and other shading. Therefore, make sure that nothing prevents the weather station from reliably detecting the wind.
Trees, walls and gutters must not slow down the wind and affect the data from the Weather Station.

Icon Temperatur

Temperature is also a crucial parameter for building protection. The weather station requires direct sunlight for accurate brightness detection. This ensures reliable operation of the automatic shielding. However, this affects the accuracy of the measured temperature. We therefore recommend using the Weather Service to measure the temperature, which is therefore included in the delivery of the Air/Tree Weather Station.

Frost and humidity can combine to cause significant damage to shading equipment due to frost.
In order to reliably protect the building from this danger, it is important that the weather station reliably records any precipitation.

Automatic shielding

Thanks to the data from the weather station, the building is protected from overheating and the Loxone Miniserver controls the shading based on the current indoor/outdoor temperature difference, sunshine and the weather forecast for the following hours.

Protection of shading technology

Thanks to the local wind measurement by the Weather Station, Loxone knows the arrival of a storm and repositions all shading technology to safe positions.

Irrigation

In a smart home, garden irrigation is automated and controlled based on the weather forecast. This ensures optimum irrigation of the lawn.

Rain Warning

Thanks to the local rain sensor in the weather station, you will be alerted in time to close the windows in case of a sudden thunderstorm.

Temperature control

By accurately predicting the outdoor heating temperature, it ensures a comfortable temperature in your smart home, regardless of the heat source.

Individual features

A lot of weather data also allows you to set individual functions. If the forecast is unfavourable, a blue light may flash in the hallway when you leave, indicating a risk of rain and a recommendation to bring an umbrella.

If the outside temperature drops below 1°C and the weather station detects precipitation, Loxone will prevent damage to the shading technology due to frost. All movements of the shading elements stop immediately and are blocked for safety reasons. User mode Frost protection can be manually cancelled in the visualisation or automatically switched off when the outside temperature exceeds 10 °C.

The Loxone weather station monitors wind speed. If it reaches a value that could damage the shielding, the user mode Storm Protection is activated: all shielding elements are brought to a safe position and locked. Storm protection can be deactivated either manually in the app or automatically when the wind speed returns to safe levels.
